We personally have seen them buried in snow, to the point most all of the branches of the arborvitaes trees are lying on the ground for most of the winter. To spring back to life once the heavy weight of the snow thaws and melts off in the spring. Another nice feature about the arborvitae tree is their leaves they are generally flat and smooth.
Arborvitaes are great shrubs and trees to create a beautiful hedge. And based on the style of your arborvitae trees, your hedge line can be a mere 3 to 4 feet in height or in the ranges of 15 – 20 feet in height. But like we indicated before arborvitaes are easy to control with hedge trimmers and they will generally hold the shape you place them in for a good period of time.
