Evergreen Trees

Most evergreens prefer full sun areas, but some will tolerate the partial shaded areas. The term evergreen refers to a tree that retains most to all of their foliage during the winter season. But the evergreen tree will not retain all of their foliage indefinitely. Normally most evergreens will lose their needle like leaves around 3 to 5 years.

Usually you can tell what needles are old and which ones are young. On most evergreen trees the younger needles will always grow on the tip of each branch. And the older needles will get sheltered under the skirt of the branches. So when you see brown needles hanging on and even falling underneath your evergreen tree, even though there will be concern, it is a natural growth pattern.

Most evergreens can be transplanted with relative ease. All evergreen trees will benefit from mulch placed at the base of the tree trunk during early years and right after a new transplant, and all need a good soaking once the evergreen tree has been transplanted.

These evergreen trees don't call under any of the catagories list above.
