Juniper Tree

Juniper trees are enduring evergreen trees, shrubs and ground covers. Juniper trees even though are part of the pine family. They produce berrylike fruit, the fruit actually is a modified cone coated with resin. The perfume that the berry omits from a juniper berry can readily be identified as a flavoring agent of gin.

When planting a native juniper tree make sure that they are being planted in their region because most native juniper trees don’t do that well outside of their common area.

There are a few handsome juniper trees that make long-lasting plants in your landscape, but there are some that are susceptible to blight, so plant only blight-resistant juniper trees that are recommended for your area. The soil demands for juniper trees are minimal. Juniper trees can handle light acidic to neutral based soils. Juniper trees can also grow in calcareous soils. You will need to make sure you water your juniper trees during warm and dry spells during the summer. This will ensure your juniper trees stay strong. This is where most people fail with their juniper trees, if you don’t water them during dry times, juniper trees will die quickly. They need water to remain alive. Pruning should be done in the spring, but if branches are damaged during a winter snowstorm, you are able to prune them off to help the shrub or tree grow stronger in the spring.
