Pine Trees are cone-bearing plants. The pine tree is part of the coniferous family. Most people think of pine trees as a tree that has no leaves, but in reality the leaves are actually replaced with pine needles. The pine tree is primarily grown in the areas of the world where winter or a cold season comes and goes, that is because pine trees don't lose their needles. This creates a nice wind bloack and gives some color to the yard or area the pine tree is growing
People through out the world use pine trees during the holiday season in December as a decoration, during this time. To them these pine trees are known as Christmas Trees. There really isn't one kind of pine tree that is used. People pick a variety of pine trees to become their Christmas Trees. A lot of tree nurseries grow thousands of pine trees every year for the very purpose of selling them during the holiday season.
Now we mentioned pine needles earlier, these are the leaves of a pine tree. They come in many different looks. A pine needle that tends to be pointy and has sharp endings, are found on a pine tree. There are also flat leafy looking needles, they tend to be smooth and flat, they are usually found on arborvitaes. Over time each needle will die off and fall to the ground. The pine needles actually produce a chemical that helps the pine tree to continue to grow. The chemical has an acidic base, which helps turn the base of the soil underneath a pine tree, a better soil for a pine tree to grow in. This we know is true with the evergreens in the regions of the world that have a cold season.
Pine trees are also available in dwarf forms as well, making them ideal for rock gardens, foundation plantings, containers and other areas where space is limited. The term "dwarf" doesn't necessarily relate to the height but the rate at which it grows.
