Trees

Deciduous Tree

Trees are one of the key elements to landscaping. There are a lot of reasons people place trees in their yards. I will be naming some of the top reasons here.

Trees are the great protector against heat and cold elements produced by nature. Full-grown trees will give you shade which is natures air conditioner. But the way trees help us with heat is during the winter, trees block winds from completely hitting your house and it also will help keep snow from drifting and falling onto your house.

Trees help with erosion, the root system of a tree helps keep soil in place. But also trees help take water out of the soil by drinking it through their root systems.

Many trees produce food, most in the way of fruit or nuts. These trees don't just produce food for for you but they help you attract wildlife to your yard as well.

Trees will also help increase your property value some. So they are a financial benefit to have.

Remember trees need to be pruned and taken care of, to have a healthy life. There are thousands of bugs and diseases that can injure and even kill entire groups of trees. Some that are around today are the Dutch Elms Disease and The Ash Borer. There are no disease controls for either one, yet. Once you start seeing the signs on your trees that the tree is dieing. It really is to late to help. There are otehr factores that will injure and kill a tree, but those can be cured if you act early enough. Carpenter Ants builds homes in trees, usually this will happen in a soft spot of a tree. Primarily in the elbow or where a tree has be rotting or is injured already. But there are products that you can buy to repel the ants. So you might only lose that limb. But it is something to watch out for, if the tree is close to your home. Damage done to home by trees can be quite devasting. Other ways a tree is injured is through animals or birds boring into a tree to either find food or build a home. A lot of repellants can be used to help keep them away.

Pruning off dead branches helps the tree live longer. So don't forget to have your trees pruned. The Rule of Thumb is once a year in the late fall, to early winter. You want to prune back any branches that have the potential of rubbing against other branches or against the trunk of the tree. This will keep the tree from having an open and penetrable wound.

There are only two kinds of trees through out the world. They are deciduous trees and evergreen trees. However, evergreen trees are broken down into two different categories. The Broad-leafed Evergreen and The Coniferous Evergreen. To learn more about these trees see the links below. If you also interested in buying a certain tree, the certain name of a tree will be listed under the kind of tree it is.
